Sustainable travel news from New York Climate Week

Finnair has launched its Finnair for Business SAF Service, a new programme to help corporate customers invest in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The programme uses the “book-and-claim” model (explained in full here), where companies co-fund the purchase of SAF and are able to claim the resulting emissions reduction for their sustainability reporting – even if the fuel is physically used on a different flight or route.
As you would expect, participating companies receive an audited SAF certificate from a verified third party, which can be used to report on Scope 3 emissions. The service also allows corporate customers to monitor the actual flight emissions generated by their business trips. Finnair says that a total of eight Finnair cargo and corporate customers have already signed up to support the use of SAF through the new service.
